ŻfinMalta, Malta’s national dance company, is this week hosting Elena Ciavarella to lead a contemporary dance workshop for 11- to 14-year-olds and 15+ students (adults are also welcome).

The inclusive workshop is targeted towards mixed ability participants. Therefore, participants with and without previous dance training are welcome to join in Ciavarella’s intensivewhich is based on floor work and leaps from a somatic starting point.

The training approach that is being adopted is inspired by the Piso movil system, some flying low techniques, and makes use of the notions of the spiral, pushing, pulling with the overarching aim of reaching the vertical from the ground.

ŻfinMalta Dance Intensives are best experienced in their entirety through package offers, however, drop-in sessions are also available for a taster of the whole experience.

Ciavarella is also leading ŻfinMalta open company classes in which participants of 18 years and over may join the company dancers in their morning class.

The workshop for 11- to 14-year-olds is taking place on Wednesday, April 19 and Friday, April 21 from 7 to 8.30pm. For more information on the workshop and Ciavarella and to book, click here.
