The Gabriel Caruana Foundation is holding a series of art workshops for children aged six to 12 in July and September at The Mill – Arts, Culture and Crafts Centre in Birkirkara.
Titled Kreaturi, the workshops are back as part of the SPRING X community − a programme of activities aimed at connecting more closely with the foundation’s SPRING Artistic Programme for Emerging Artists.
The young participants will have a dedicated space to develop their artistic skills and explore new techniques while being surrounded by the artwork of Gabriel Caruana and other inspiring artists.
The sessions, which will be held on Tuesdays, will be led by Martina Camilleri and Michela Grech. Each month will have a theme.
In July, the children will dive into the wonderful world of paper making in a hands-on experience that combines art and sustainability. They will learn about recycling, the art of making their own paper, and explore texture and print-making techniques.
The September sessions will be dedicated to textiles. The children will explore the different ways of working with fabric, delve into the world of automatic drawing and transform flat surfaces into captivating 3D forms.
During the sessions, one of the upcoming SPRING collective artists will join to share their insights and showcase their work, providing an enriching experience for the young participants.
In the final session, all the children will come together to co-create a collaborative art piece. Parents are invited to join for this special occasion and witness the progress their children would have made throughout the workshops.
The sessions will be held on July 4, 11, 18 and 25 and September 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 5 to 7pm. To register, click here: https://forms.gle/e2PU1xPQTDDCfmMS6. Once registered, payment details will be sent. Participation is confirmed once payment is received.
