Kim Cattrall set to reprise role of Samantha for a cameo in AJLT

Samantha Jones joins Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte in one episode of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.
Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis on location for SATC 2 in New York.

Originally running between 1998 and 2004, Sex and the City (SATC) was a pop culture phenomenon that explored love and sex in a way that hadn’t been done on television before. With a focus on its four main, female characters – Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte – the series also spawned two hit feature films, a teen comedy drama by the name of The Carrie Diaries, and in 2021 a sequel/reboot called And Just Like That… (AJLT).

While Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin David reprised their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt, respectively, the feminist icon that is Samantha Jones was very obviously missing. This, as became widely discussed in the press, was due to a public feud Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker had.

But that seems to have taken a back burner as Kim is set to reprise her role as Samantha for the season two finale of AJLT. Even so, this is meant to be just for one scene, during which she’ll have a phone conversation from her new home in London, with Carrie. At least, this is a big step from the faceless text message exchange Carrie and Samantha had in season one.

The episode will air in August and, as far as what sources have said, we should not take this as a potential full-time reprise – though we can live in hope, right?

But there is some more good news, which is that Aidan should also be returning to the franchise during the second season! This could be huge considering Mr Big’s demise in the first season…

So, who else is excited to see what happens?
