Translator Kit Azzopardi has published a bilingual poetry book with original works by Mary Calafato, one of Malta’s almost forgotten poets.
It was in a quaint bazaar in Fleur-de Lys that Azzopardi stumbled upon a second-hand copy of Mary Calafato’s House In Limbo (1985). Intrigued by an author unfamiliar to him, Azzopardi felt a compelling urge to translate the work. This initial interest transformed into an academic endeavor when he incorporated the translation of Calafato’s poems into his final project for his Diploma in Maltese Literature.
Additional translations were supported and eventually published through the Malta Book Fund.
