If you’re missing the Netflix-original series, Wednesday, then we have great news for you, as reports on international news site Bloomberg reveal that on top of a second season of the hit series, the streaming giant has also commissioned a spin-off series focusing on Gomez’s elder brother, Uncle Fester.
While not much else is known for now, the assumption is that Fred Armisen — of Saturday Night Live! And Portlandia fame, and who played Uncle Fester in one episode of Wednesday — will reprise the role.
Wednesday, which featured Jenna Ortega in the lead role, hit the screens in November 2022. It quickly became one of the streaming service’s best-performing shows, with viewers clocking a total 1.806 billion viewing hours in 20 weeks, ensuring it a place in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for that duration and the #2 spot in Netflix’s all-time most viewed shows in the first 28 days of release, just behind season four of Stranger Things.
The original series should also be returning for a second season, the production for which is expected to resume in April 2024, following delays due to the recent strikes in Hollywood.
