A carnival exhibition by students of the Malta School of Art is being set up at the school’s premises in Old Bakery Street, Valletta, in the coming days.
Il-Maskerat will feature works by 12- and 13-year-old students following a 3D thematic-based project led by teachers Sephora Borg and Matthew Pandolfino, exploring how the students view carnival.
The works, inspired from the grotesque element in carnival parades, have been executed with traditional papier-mâché and fabric and other recycled materials.
Throughout their course, the students learnt about the subject during talks delivered by Vicki Ann Cremona and George Zahra, and admired a collection of handmade masks presented by Mario Mizzi.
The public is invited to view the exhibition from February 5 to 9 between 9am and 7pm and on February 12 and 13 from 9am to 1pm.
