‘A timeless piece with a lot of craftsmanship’
Iggy Fenech
What would you consider to be your favourite fashion moment? I have too many outfits to just narrow it down to one but, if I had to pick one from one of my more recent outfits, it would be the one I wore to the Malta Fashion Awards in 2023.
Can you describe the outfit: I decided to wear an extravagant gown made by designer Luke Azzopardi. It’s not everyday you get to wear such an incredible creation, so I jumped at the opportunity to showcase his work. I love the amount of detail that went into this bones gown, which fit like a glove. The corset was in black sheer and had big puffy sleeves to extenuate it and give it more drama. I felt it was a timeless piece with a lot of craftsmanship, which made it perfect for the occasion.
How did you accessorise it? I paired it with a pair of sleeping bat earrings in gold, which were also made by Luke. My handbag, which is in crushed velvet with an opal handle, was bought from a vintage shop in London a few years ago; I found it while thrifting with my Great-Aunty Alma, who also shares my passion for fashion. I completed the look with a pair of shoes from Jimmy Choo Couture.
How did you decide upon what type of hair, make-up, and nails to combine with your outfit? My nail technician, Monica from Hollywood Glam by Mon, has been doing my nails for the past 10 years and she created a gothic look to compliment my dress. My hair was by Adrian from AD Salon, and together we opted for some messy waves, which worked with the hot weather. Finally, Jean Zammit did my make up and made sure it was also very dramatic with chunky cat eyes, lips in a nude colour, and natural eyebrows.
What or who inspired the outfit? I had had my eye on this dress from Luke for a while, but I had been waiting for the right moment to wear it. This seemed to be the perfect place for it.
Who is your favourite style icon and why? Rather than a style icon, I’ll pick a fashion house, which is Masion Martin Margelia. I just love the unusual cuts they come up with!
