On October 15, Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir will hit bookshelves across the world. Titled From Here to the Great Unknown: A Memoir, the autobiography is co-authored by Presley’s daughter, actress Riley Keough, who took over her mum’s multi-year project following her demise of bowel obstruction in 2023.
Announced on January 11, 2024, just a day before Presley’s first anniversary of her death, the memoir is based on tens of hours of ‘vulnerable’ recordings made by the Lisa Marie Presley in the years leading up to her death. On top of being used to inform the biography, these recordings will be included in the official audiobook for the memoir, which is set to be read by Keough herself.
Lisa Marie Presley was the only daughter of American legend Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla Presley. Born in 1968, Lisa Marie was a successful singer-songwriter in her own right, releasing three albums between 2003 and 2012, with her first one being certified gold. Even so, her story has been largely overshadowed by her father’s fame – something that is alluded to in the book description.
“Born to an American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley was never truly understood . . . until now. Before her death in 2023, she’d been working on a raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir for years, recording countless hours of breathtakingly vulnerable tape, which has finally been put on the page by her daughter, Riley Keough.”
Not much else is known about the memoir for now, but it’s safe to say that this may be a tell-all that brings to light many previously-unknown aspects about the King of Rock and Roll, his teenage bride, and life at Graceland.
