BirdLife Malta is holding the first-ever Festa Melħ|Salt Fest at the Salina Nature Reserve on July 27 and 28. The festival is celebrating the opening of the new Salt Museum, which will be inaugurated on July 26.

There will be a host of activities for all the family during the weekend. These include interactive games and educational booths indoors and outdoors; a birds and nature crafts session for children; a pot painting session and a workshop on crafting with bones, stones and shells.

Ancient tools will be used for a workshop on Neolithic crats.

The latter workshop, which runs for 90 minutes, delves into the world of Neolithic crafts. An experienced artisan and teacher, will give a step-by-step demonstration on transforming small Globigerina Limestone slabs into exquisite jewellery pendants, adorned with iconic Maltese temple period motifs using ancient tools and materials. This workshop will be held twice on July 27 and twice on July 28. Bookings and payments may be done here.

There will also be food stalls and craft stands, and visitors may visit the Salt Museum for free.
