Dyson products are some of the most coveted in the world of haircare, with people forking out hundreds of euro to own their hairdryers and curlers. What many weren’t expecting, however, is for their new, signature hair product to be something as “simple” as hair clips.
Launched just a few weeks ago, we must admit that Dyson’s two new hair clips do look particularly sturdy and well designed. The sectioning hair clip has a silicone band that stretches to increase grip and minimise creases, while the rear pocket allows it to hold as much hair as possible. The wide hair clip, meanwhile, has a wide-opening angle and plenty of side teeth throughout, making it useful for people with all hair densities and types.
What’s been particularly over-the-top is Dyson’s marketing for them, with a video that really bigs up the products. It does so by showing the testing stage of the hair clips and by speaking to hair stylists and Dyson engineers. The video itself has led to people online calling Dyson “the Apple of haircare”, referencing the fact that Apple tends to make very elaborate videos for products that look and are pretty similar to their forebears.
Having said all this, the hair clips have gone down well with consumers, and are sold out in both the UK and US, which is impressive considering the price tag of £35 for four.
The question is, would you buy them?
