Local designer Saz Mifsud introduces the Cimelio collection, a tribute to cherished heirlooms and the legacies we leave behind, inviting the creation of “your own legacy” with these timeless fashion pieces.
The collection is inspired by the question: “What would you hold dear for eternity?” It delves into Malta’s rich history, bringing the past to life through fashion.
Drawing from the depths of Malta’s oldest notarial archive at the Notarial Archives Foundation in Valletta, Saz unearthed a treasure trove of historical wonders: splendid calligraphy, illuminated manuscripts, marbled paper, and maritime maps, some dating back to the 15th century.
She took these historical fragments and reimagined them as delicate digital collages, which she printed onto fabric, transforming them into modern-day heirlooms.
The Cimelio collection features an array of elegant pieces, including wrap tops, palazzo pants, flowy jackets and full skirts, all crafted from a delicate silk linen.
True to Saz’s artistic legacy, the collection also showcases her signature scarves, each piece bringing history into contemporary design.
Just as a notary leaves behind a ledger adorned with intricate patterns, and a singer bequeaths a song, Saz leaves her mark with precious silken creations, designed to be cherished, worn and passed down through generations.
