On September 18, Teatru Manoel will welcome the Prague-based, multi-award-winning trio Trio Incendio for an enchanting evening of music by young and talented musicians in celebration of Czech Music Year 2024.

Founded in 2016 in Prague by the musicians themselves, ‘Trio Incendio’ is composed of pianist Karolína Františová, violinist Filip Zaykov, and cellist Vilém Petras. In a short span of time, the trio has established itself as one of Europe’s most distinguished young ensembles, performing at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, the Philharmonie in Berlin, and the Rudolfinum in Prague. The young trio is recognised for their skill and stylistic sense in classical works, the beauty of their sound in romantic interpretations, and their intriguing approach to contemporary music.

During the concert at Teatru Manoel, they will perform several compositions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Lasting about an hour, the programme includes ‘Trio No. 3 in C H.332’ by Bohuslav Martinů, ‘Tristia for Piano Trio S. 378c (after La Vallée d’Obermann)’ by Franz Liszt, and ‘Trio No. 2 in G minor Op. 26’ by Antonín Dvořák. These compositions feature dramatic sections interwoven with romantic and grand elements. With both allegro and andante tempos, the evening’s music will not only appeal to classical and chamber music lovers but also serve as an excellent introduction to the genre for those newly inclined to explore it. Children aged six and over are invited to attend the concert to experience this magical genre of live music, likely for the first time.

‘Trio Incendio’ has won several international competitions, including the Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna, the Joseph Joachim Competition in Weimar, the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in Lugano, the Coop Music Awards in Cremona, the Marcello Pontillo Music Competition in Florence, and the Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Prague, where they also received the Special Prize for the best interpretation of a work by Martinů. The trio regularly participates in the International Summer Academy in Reichenau, organised by the University of Music in Vienna, where they have won numerous prizes for the best interpretation of contemporary Czech music, as well as the Chamber Music Prize for best ensemble and the Audience Award.
