HistoryHit TV, in collaboration with Ubisoft, has recently launched a new podcast that dives deep into the history of the places, events, and people covered in the Assassin’s Creed video game. Called Echoes of History, the weekly show is presented by historian Matt Lewis, with regular contributions by historian Holly Nielsen.
First released in November 2007, Assassin’s Creed is a historical, action-adventure video game by Ubisoft. In it, players explore the fictional, millennia-old fight between the Order of Assassins, which strives for a world in which peace and free will reign, and the Knights Templar, who believe in control and order.
So far, the franchise has spawned 14 games—as well as a movie partially filmed in Malta—taking players to the city streets of Renaissance Florence, the sand dunes of Egypt, and on the ship of Caribbean pirates, among others.
All this is being covered on the podcast, which in its first six episodes has already explored the Alexandrian War, the ancient Olympics, the riddle of the Sphinx of Giza, the Koh-i-Noor Diamond, and the lives of Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII and Hippocrates.
The podcast is available for free on Spotify, Apple Music, HistoryHit TV, and plenty of other places.
