Grammy Award-winning producer Jon-John Robinson, known for his work with Diana Ross, Lady Gaga, Pink, and TLC, is set to produce the next EP for Maltese singer-songwriter Claire Tonna. This collaboration will see Tonna travel to Dallas, Texas, this October where she will combine Robinson’s production expertise with her unique artistic style, highlighting her contralto voice and evocative songwriting.

The selected songs for the EP explore Tonna’s personal journey of acceptance, growth, healing, and resilience in the face of various challenges, including loneliness, restlessness, and a sense of disconnection. Discussing the EP’s themes, Tonna explains: “The writing of the songs pretty much kept me alive and stopped me from giving up. They filled me with the strength and faith I needed to start believing I can thrive. The EP songs are extremely powerful and vulnerable, as they deal with this personal struggle on every level. As the songs gave me strength when I wrote and sang them, may they give strength to many others.”

Recording will commence in October at Arcadia Music Studios in Dallas, Texas. This marks a significant step for Tonna as she brings her carefully curated tracks to international audiences. The project is supported by Arts Council Malta through its Cultural Exposure Scheme 2024.

Claire Tonna believes that the EP encapsulates the strength and resilience that have shaped her journey, and she is eager to share these narratives with a wider audience.

This collaboration not only showcases Tonna’s talent but also represents a milestone in her career as she continues to establish her presence on the global music stage.
