Marilyn Monroe stars in new exhibition

A legendary actress, a sex symbol, an enduring pop cultural phenomenon: even 62 years after he tragic demise, the star of Marilyn Monroe has never dimmed. In fact, she continues to be as relevant today as she ever was, which is what makes the new exhibition dedicated to objects related to her so much more poignant and worth visiting.

Marilyn: The Exhibition is being held at Arches London Bridge in London, and gives visitors a rare glimpse into the incredible collection of Marilyn Monroe-related memorabilia owned by Ted Stampfer, the world’s most avid collector of items related to the star.

The main highlights include love letters sent by and to the actress, satin robes, vintage shoes, and items from Marilyn’s own make-up collection. There is also an exact replica of the iconic dress she wore when she sang ‘Happy Birthday, Mr President’ to John F Kennedy; Andy Warhal pop art prints; and an original copy of the New York Daily from August 6, 1962, when the news that the star had been found dead in her bed broke across the world.

From limousine receipts to her favourite sunglasses, Marilyn: The Exhibition goes into the minute details of the actress’ life, from the dizzying heights to the tragic lows. That, in itself, makes this exhibition a must-see, but what makes this event unique is the fact that no other Marilyn collection in the world is as all-encompassing, particularly as many of her belongings were auctioned in 2002 and dispersed around the world.

Marilyn: The Exhibition is open Sunday through Friday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 8pm. Tickets start from £21.90 (€26.30). For more information, visit the official exhibition site.
