Discover the truth behind exorcisms

Fr Carlos Martins, an exorcist for the Catholic Church for over 20 years, retells his experiences battling demons
Host Ryan Bethea with Fr Carlos Martins.

Although spooky season is over, there is no doubt that the supernatural makes a very fascinating topic at any time of year. And that’s certainly true in The Exorcist Files, a compelling podcast in which a priest who has over 20 years’ experience in exorcisms, Fr Carlos Martins, shares his own encounters with demons, witches’ curses, Ouija boards, familial curses, and more.

Whether you’re a believer or not, Fr Martins’ stories are terrifyingly good, diving headfirst into how the possessed’s deepest desires made them let evil in and take hold. Among the first tales that he pulls out of his archive are those of a young married woman who asks an alternative healer to help her conceive, of a young boy who makes a pact with the devil to be the strongest person at his school, and of a family dealing with addiction and adultery.

Fr Martins also recounts his own story to ‘salvation’, explaining how he was an atheist who discovered Jesus Christ while at university, leading him to become an exorcist and one of the Church’s top experts on religious relics.

The podcast, while obviously religious in nature, does also take a scientific look at episodes of possession, and explains the theology behind the ancient rite of exorcism, why a boardgame like the Ouija is considered dangerous, and why Confession can help keep evil at bay.
Now on its second season, The Exorcist Files has already covered 13 different cases and has a whole collection of extra material for listeners to sink their teeth into. It’s also available everywhere you get your podcasts, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts, so there’s really no excuse not to listen!
