The knitted hood is taking over London’s streets

We are firm believers that the colder weather allows people to experiment more with their style, especially when it comes to layering. Proof of that is one of the season’s most unexpected style trends becoming a firm favourite in one of the world’s fashion capitals, London.

The knitted hood was introduced to high fashion by Miu Miu in 2020, as part of the fashion house’s autumn/winter 2021 collection. It didn’t make any huge waves at the time, but it did cause some ripples, with style icons like Chloë Sevigny being spotted wearing one in 2022.

Now, however, the trend has gone mainstream, with knitted hoods being sold at Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Farfetch, SSense, and, of course, by Miu Miu.

As an accessory, the knitted hood is pretty much what it says on the tin: it’s a hood knitted out of wool or cashmere, which can come in a variety of colours, textures, and style. Some, for example, also have an incorporated scarf.

Our prediction—especially now that Vogue UK has covered the topic—is that this trend will pick up in other major cities around the world, and maybe even in Malta during those few weeks where the weather allows it.

If it does, would you wear one? Let us know in the comments section!
