It’s hard to go online right now without seeing anything about the Jon M Chu’s on-screen adaptation of Wicked. There are videos of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, everywhere. Plus, the soundtrack is being used in TikToks and Instagram reels everywhere.

As if there weren’t enough hype surrounding the project, the studio behind the on-screen version of the much-loved Broadway musical, Universal Pictures, has now revealed that the second of the two-part project will hit theatres on Friday, November 21, 2025… Just one day before the first anniversary of the first film’s release.

The films, which are based on the 2003 musical by the same name, follow pretty much the same sequence. The first film, in fact, ends with Erivo singing the musical’s best-known song, Defying Gravity which in the musical marked the end of the first act. As such, the second part of the film will revolve around the two main character’s new-found identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

All the main characters are expected to return, with actors Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Young, Peter Dinklage, and Michelle Yeoh listed as part of the cast for Wicked Part Two.

Considering the positive reviews for the film, and having already grossed $382.3 million worldwide in less than three weeks, expectations are high for Part Two. Though considering it was worked on simultaneously, we can expect the same level of quality and fun from it!
