“Every solo exhibition is deeply personal and meaningful to me, but this fourth one holds a special place in my heart. It represents a turning point—either my life has changed the way I view this exhibition, or this exhibition has changed the way I view my life!” smiles Silvana.
“I was booked for this solo exhibition two years ago, but I began working on it in earnest over the past nine months. At the time of booking, I was living in a very small apartment and wondered how I would manage to store all the works for the show. I immediately ruled out the idea of creating large-scale paintings due to the limited space.”
“However, nine months ago, I made a life-changing decision to move. I had always dreamed of having a proper studio—somewhere with room for tools, large canvases, and even a garden. I finally took that step and created the space I had envisioned for years.”
The paintings in Through the Eyes of the Soul – and there are more than 30 – were all inspired by landscapes, Silvana’s favourite subject. “I have always loved nature and spent most of my life immersed in it,” she explains.
“Each landscape in this collection was created in one of three different places—my previous home, a temporary shelter, and my new home. The journey between these locations was filled with personal challenges, emotional struggles, financial concerns, and complications with planning permissions.”
“These life experiences are reflected in the paintings themselves. The dark clouds represent moments of uncertainty, golden fields symbolize hope, and a stork in flight captures a sense of freedom. Every painting is a piece of my soul, an expression of what I’ve felt and lived through.”
Alongside each painting Silvana is including a short accompanying narrative, sharing the story and meaning behind it.
“I hope that everyone who visits the exhibition will feel these emotions and connect with them. Just as I have faced these ups and downs, others will see parts of their own journeys in this exhibition too.”
The opening night on May 9 will feature live classical music by pianist Alessio Pagano.
“For me, art and music go hand in hand, and classical music—though I enjoy many genres—felt like the perfect choice for this exhibition. It’s the music I played while working, helping me find calm and focus during intense moments of creation.
