The winning productions of the 65th edition of the National Film Competition, organised by the Malta Cine Circle, have been announced.
Best production went to We Three Kings, produced by Bruce Micallef Eynaud, who also won the best scriptwriting award.
Zion Wheelan won the direction award for the film Telqa and Julian Cachia clinched the editing award for Mea Culpa.
The cinematography award went to Clive Brincat from the film Apex, which also earned Jonathan Backman the award for best sound.
As regards acting, Wayne Smith won the award for best male performance for his role in the film Not Just Coffee, while Jeanette Smith won the best female actress award for her role in The Clairvoyant.
The ‘Jury Special Award for Innovative Viewer Interaction’ went to Breathe, produced by Maria Farrugia.
The entries in Malta’s longest-running national film competition were judged by a panel of judges last week.
The competition is also one of the most long-standing of its kind in Europe and worldwide, its organisers said.
A screening of the winning films and the presentation of awards will be held on July 26 at 7.30pm at the Amphitheatre Hall, the Marriott Hotel, Balluta.
Admission is by reservation but is open to the public free of charge.
