Renowned for her vivid silk prints and poetic storytelling through fabric, designer Saz Mifsud now turns her gaze towards the sea. This summer, she dives into new waters with the launch of her very first swimwear collection: Tierra de Colores.
Inspired by a journey through Mexico – a land layered with myth, memory and wild, organic beauty – the collection captures moments Saz photographed while travelling across Oaxaca, Tulum and Mexico City. Botanical gardens, seashell-scattered shores and sweeping murals all found their way into her sketchbook before being reimagined as original prints on swimwear.
“Mexico made me feel like colour was alive,” says the designer. “Every corner seemed sacred, every flower symbolic. I wanted to carry that reverence into pieces that celebrate the body and the natural world it moves in.”
Delicate fragments of Spanish text, floral motifs and sun-washed patterns echo sacred sites such as the ancient Tree of Tule – once believed to mark the origin of humankind. This deep respect for nature is woven throughout the collection, creating a cohesive story that blends nostalgia, spirituality, and contemporary style.
The collection features an elegant edit of flattering swimwear cuts and luxurious beachwear. Classic triangle bikinis, reimagined in reversible prints, offer versatile styling as either a halter-neck or shoulder-tied piece. For those seeking more support without compromising on style, sweetheart bikini tops are lightly structured with soft scuba lining, and come with multi-way straps that adjust to your preferred fit. High-waisted bikini bottoms add a hint of vintage glamour, while the sweetheart one-piece swimsuit brings the same soft support and adaptable straps to a sculpting silhouette that hugs the body.
