In collaboration with Opera Nova Project and the Manoel Theatre, the FAME’S Institute Orchestra of North Macedonia will take part in a full-length opera production of Mozart’s beloved masterpiece The Magic Flute on September 25 and 26.

The two-day programme highlights the international scope of the institute, which unites young musicians from across Europe for training, professionalisation and performance opportunities.

Performing at the Manoel, one of the world’s oldest working theatres, is a milestone for the orchestra and its cross-border mission, the institute’s director says.

“Taking our orchestra from Skopje to Valletta for The Magic Flute is a strong statement of what we stand for,” Aude Nassieu Maupas points out.

“This collaboration with Opera Nova Project and the Manoel shows how North Macedonia can serve as a hub for European creativity, while giving young musicians the chance to perform on an international stage.”

Founded in 2022 with support from the EU’s Creative Europe programme and the culture ministry of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Skopje-based FAME’S Institute has already involved more than 400 participants from 31 countries.

Its programme, the European Creative Orchestral Programme for Skilled Youth, exposes musicians to a wide repertoire, from classical symphonies to contemporary and cross-genre works, preparing them for the demands of the modern music industry.

With The Magic Flute in Malta, the FAME’S Institute Orchestra continues its international journey, bridging cultures, empowering young talent and showcasing North Macedonia’s growing role on the European cultural map.
