Friends of the Earth Malta is holding the third edition of ĊineAmbjent, a three-day film festival dedicated to environmental and social justice, between October 17 and 19.

This year’s edition promises to be bigger, better and more dynamic than ever before, featuring a hand-picked selection of short and feature-length films, family-friendly animations, documentaries and local gems alongside international favourites.

The films highlight some of the most urgent challenges of our time – from the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, to indigenous struggles and food justice.

Some of the screenings will also be followed by interactive discussions, giving audiences the chance to voice their opinions and learn more from experts.

ĊineAmbjent is about more than just watching films – it’s about sparking conversations and inspiring change”

The festival will be spread across several venues, including the Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s, the Valletta Contemporary art gallery, Café Riche in Vittoriosa, Kixott in Mosta, the Movement Graffitti office in Valletta, and the Friends of the Earth Malta Green Resource Centre in Floriana.

ĊineAmbjent is about more than just watching films – it’s about sparking conversations and inspiring change. We want audiences to leave feeling moved, connected, and empowered to take action for people and planet,” Martina Camilleri, ĊineAmbjent festival coordinator, said.

The full festival catalogue is available in Maltese and English, featuring detailed information on each film and the daily programme.

Seats can be booked online, with single film, one-day and three-day passes on offer.

ĊineAmbjent 2025 is supported by the various venues, sponsors and collaborating organisations.

The event is being implemented as part of the Youth Policy Academy – Engage, Connect, Empower (YPA-ECE) project, of which Friends of the Earth Malta is a partner.
