The ŻiguŻajg Arts Festival for Children and Young People is back for its 15th edition, running in Valletta from November 14 to 23.

Over the past decade-and-a-half, ŻiguŻajg has established itself as a cornerstone of Malta’s cultural calendar, offering world-class productions created especially for children, young people and their families. This milestone edition promises to be no different, extending beyond Valletta to bring imagination, creativity and the magic of storytelling to Vittoriosa and Gozo.

The 2025 programme showcases a rich variety of experiences ranging from theatre, dance and music to film, puppetry, clowning and the visual arts.

Families can look forward to enchanting shows for babies and toddlers such as Chasing Rainbows and Univers; magical adventures like Cabinet of Miracles and Kinder, and innovative works for older children and teens, including Uncover | Discover and What’s Missing?

Local highlights in Maltese include Paramm Paramm and Anton u l-Għakruxu, alongside laugh-out-loud family favourites like The Complete History of Malta (More or Less) and The Complete History of Europe (More or Less).

During the launch, Culture Minister Owen Bonnici highlighted the importance of ŻiguŻajg in shaping the next generation of artists and audiences.

History of Malta

ŻiguŻajg is more than a festival; it is a cultural investment in our children and young people. It provides them with the unique opportunity to discover new ways of expression and to connect with the transformative power of the arts,” he said.

Rupert Cefai, chairperson of Fondazzjoni Kreattività, remarked that the festival does not simply entertain: “It creates moments of reflection, joy, and discovery that stay with children and families long after the curtain falls.”

Festival director Marta Vella expressed her excitement about this milestone edition.

“This year’s programme is a celebration of creativity in all its forms. By bringing back repertoire pieces as well as new commissions, our aim is to offer children and families experiences that spark the imagination and inspire curiosity, while continuing to build on ŻiguŻajg’s legacy as a festival dedicated entirely to young people,” she said.
