‘Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood’ storms Astra Theatre

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, a rock ’n’ roll panto that’s loud, cheeky and bursting with festive fun for all ages, opens today at the Astra Theatre in Victoria. One is to expect live music, big laughs and feel-good chaos pantomime with the volume firmly cranked.

Leading the chaos is the unstoppable Edward Mercieca as the fabulous Dame, delivering razor-sharp comedy, towering wigs and pure panto flair. Joining him as one of the babes is Pia Zammit, a Comedy Knights legend making her Gozo panto debut, paired with last year’s much-loved Dame Sean Borg, a double act guaranteed to keep audiences laughing from start to finish.

Gianni Selvaggi will play the part of the famous, legendary outlaw.

The legendary outlaw is brought to life by Gianni Selvaggi as Robin Hood, alongside a vibrant multi-talented cast including Yorika Attard, Tina Rizzo, Peter Farrugia, Hannah Attard and Dan Ganado.

What truly sets this production apart is that the cast are the band. Performers on stage double up as the band, acting, singing, moving and playing their instruments live. The result is a panto that feels like a full-blown rock concert, with the music driving the story from start to finish, led by a talented troupe of actor-musicians.

Audiences can expect a soundtrack packed with iconic hits, featuring music by artists such as Chappell Roan, Elvis Presley, The Pointer Sisters, Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac, just to name a few, all reimagined live on stage with a rock ’n’ roll panto twist.
