Floriana celebrating St Patrick’s Day on Sunday

The Floriana local council is once again organising its own St Patrick Day’s festivities on Sunday, March 15.

‘St Patrick’s (Sun)Day’ will begin at 10am with a march through the streets of Floriana by the San Filep Band of Żebbuġ. At midday they will be joined by the Wallace Pipes and Drums Band.

The parade will end in Conservatory Street, where at around 1pm a live variety programme will begin featuring Reel Celtic (accompanied by Irish traditional dancer Rihanna Binns), Kersten Graham, Gianni & Papps, and Matthew James & Band.

There will also be a Kids Area, making it an activity for the whole family, as well as food and drink stalls.

The Floriana local council says it organises this activity not with the aim of creating another “street party”, but rather to commemorate and celebrate the old and deep ties that are known and recognised between Floriana and Ireland. St Patrick, or San Patrizju in Maltese, is the patron saint of Ireland.
