A powerful live flamenco dance production is being held at the Valletta Campus Theatre on Saturday, March 21 at 7.30pm.

A celebration of women’s empowerment, Rojo Carmesí (Crimson Red) journeys through a rich tapestry of flamenco palos, each scene revealing new dimensions of resilience, courage and freedom. Rooted in tradition yet boldly contemporary, the performance is a striking affirmation of voice, presence and creative power.

Created, directed, choreographed and performed by renowned flamenco dancer Marta de Troya − who danced for many years with the legendary Sara Baras − the production also features her dynamic company of young dancers, emerging artists who bring freshness, intensity and great commitment to the stage. Under her leadership, this new generation of performers channels the essence of flamenco with authenticity and fire.

The fully live performance is driven by the virtuosic guitar of Pascual de Lorca and the powerful, emotionally charged voice of María Martínez. The programme includes celebrated works such as Bailando al golpe by Pilar Ogalla and Zorongo by Marco Flores, adding depth and distinction to the repertoire.

Further enriching the production is the participation of advanced students and graduates of Estudio de Danza/Deborah McNamara School of Dance, whose artistry strengthens this collaborative and intergenerational celebration of flamenco.

The performance starts at 7.30pm. Tickets from showshappening.com.
