A new home offering residential and respite services for children and adolescents with disabilities has opened in Mosta.
Run by HILA, Santa Rosa was recently inaugurated by Julia Farrugia Portelli, Minister for Inclusion, Volunteering and Consumer Rights.
The state-of-the-art home is the result of a €3 million investment from the private sector with the government offering necessary services through Aġenzija Sapport.
It is the first of its kind, with 27 bedrooms spread over four floors, therapy rooms with sensory devices and a recreational garden, Farrugia Portelli said.
The aim is for clients with special needs to feel “safe, supported and loved”.
Present for the inauguration were the founder of Vassallo Group, Nazzareno Vassallo, together with the chairperson of Vassallo Group, Natalie Briffa Farrugia, the CEO of Vassallo Group, Pio Vassallo, CEO of CareMalta Group James Sciriha, HILA’s board of directors, Vassallo Group’s chief executives, CareMalta Group’s management team and HILA’s head of departments.
Also present were the Shadow Minister for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, Graziella Galea, the permanent secretary within the ministry, Nancy Caruana, Aġenzija Sapport CEO Oliver Scicluna and Mosta mayor Chris Grech.
Mosta parish priest Fr Sebastian Caruana blessed the home.
