5 DIY gift ideas for Christmas

Worried about the upcoming gift-giving burden? Why not try a different approach?

Christmas is around the corner (can you believe it?!) and it’s time to start thinking about presents. Showing you care doesn’t have to break the bank, especially in these tight times. If you’re on a tight budget or if you simply enjoy arts and crafts, there are plenty of gift ideas that you can create at home. Need ideas? I’ve got you covered.

Photo album

Go through the gallery on your phone and collect your favourite memories into a folder. Print them and create a personalised photo album. You can add sequins, little notes, captions, and other decorative elements for an extra special touch.

Homemade candles

Everyone loves candles, so why not create one for your loved one? You can experiment with different scents for a more automatic gift or leave it odourless and focus on the shape. You can use different containers to mould your candles into various shapes.

Knitted scarf

If you enjoy knitting, why not knit a scarf, hat, or gloves? Okay, maybe gloves aren’t really needed in Malta, but you get my drift. Adding personal touches like tassels to the fringe or using wool in the recipient’s favourite colour are recommended.

Customised jewellery

Assemble beads, feathers, pendants, or charms together on a piece of string or iron to create your own jewellery. Whether you opt for a necklace, a bracelet, or earrings, you can customise your creation to suit your loved one’s tastes.

Hand-painted mug

Get your paint brushes out and add your artistic touch to a ceramic mug. You can write your loved one’s name, paint a picture that resonates with them, or write a clever joke in paint so he/she can have a good laugh with his/her morning coffee.
