Ladurée is officially coming to Malta

The high-end, French retailer of pastries, which sells around 15,000 double-decker macarons worldwide daily, will soon be opening its doors in Sliema.

You may have seen Ladurée’s creations in Sofia Coppola’s 2006 visual masterpiece, Marie Antoinette, or even remember them being Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf’s favourite pastries. You may also have enjoyed Ladurée’s delicious macarons on a trip to Paris or London… But, in a few weeks’ time, you’ll be able to indulge in the French pastry retailer’s delicious goods at Sliema’s The Point.

Originally rumoured to be opening in 2019, Ladurèe Malta has been in and out of people’s conversations since, with many wondering when and, indeed, if, they would be opening. Then, over the past few months, the company’s official Facebook and Instagram pages for Malta came to life, confirming the upcoming opening of the iconic macaron sellers. Finally, on January 25, a shop facade at The Point in Sliema confirmed the location thanks to window banners that read ‘Opening Soon – Ladurée Paris’.

Although the exact opening date has not been revealed yet, the excitement is palpable – and who can blame us? Ladurée has been in the business since 1862, and now has stores in around 15 countries, including the UK, the US, Japan, UAE, India, Canada, and, of course, France, where it originated. The company’s super-colourful double-decker macarons, which are beautifully packaged, have become the world’s most famous item in its category, and with the company reportedly selling some 15,000 of them each day.

So, yeah, Ladurée will indeed be a noteworthy addition to Malta’s food scene and we just can’t wait till they’re open!
