Summer is now officially upon us—at least, heat-wise—and nothing helps beat the heat quite like a dip in the azure sea or a beautifully-located pool. To do that legally, you’ll need a swimsuit, and if you’re thinking of getting yourself a new one, this short guide to this season’s biggest swimsuit trends should help.
Crochet: Grandma Core is currently all the rage, and that extends to swimsuits, too. The styles we’ve seen online include two- and one-pieces, with plenty of elaborate patterns, including herringbone, and even crocheted flower motifs. These will definitely turn heads when you’re chilling by the poolside, and are totally Instagrammable.
Coquette-Inspired: The coquette trend that counts Marie Antoinette as one of its inspirations is also hitting the waves this summer. Swimsuits in this category have bows, lace, ruffles, floral prints, and even all of the above. The idea behind this is über-femininity, pairing your coquette-inspired swimsuit with wedges and straw bags.
90s Revival: Anyone who remembers the 90s will remember the high-leg cut bikinis made famous by Baywatch and the supermodels of the age. Well, that trend is back, and these swimsuits are being paired with socks and sneakers, just like they were in the best decade of them all. The bra tops for this trend also tend to offer support via the underwire, which may make some wearers even happier.
