Preserving our maritime heritage

Conference to focus on using 3D techniques.

Heritage Malta and Stavanger Maritime Museum (MUST) are excited to announce a public hybrid conference titled ‘Clean Oceans and Mapping Our Seas’, taking place on June 19. This event will delve into how advanced digitization technology can mitigate the negative impacts of human activity on our oceans and help preserve the associated cultural heritage.

The conference will host distinguished keynote speakers from the European Commission, UNESCO, Heritage Malta’s Digitization and Underwater Cultural Heritage Units, and experts from various European countries. They will present case studies and best practices related to the 3D digitization of maritime cultural heritage. This event is held under the patronage of the European Commission’s TwinIt! initiative and is funded by the Malta-Norway bilateral fund. Due to high demand, tickets for on-site participation at the Malta Maritime Museum are fully booked.

However, the conference will be streamed online to registered guests, thus allowing experts, s takeholders, and enthusiasts worldwide to join the discussions on innovative 3D digital solutions for documenting and interpreting maritime cultural heritage. The conference will feature six sessions, beginning at 9:00 am and concluding at 5:15 pm, offering a platform for a diverse range of speakers to share fresh insights and expert knowledge.
