At a recent Comic-Con in San Diego, the team behind the popular Dexter TV series announced that the forensic-technician-cum-vigilante-serial-killer would be returning for a new series called Dexter: Resurrection.

Dexter, which ran from 2006 and 2013, was a TV series that focused on a forensic technician working with the fictional Miami Metro Police Department, who also killed murderers who he felt had not been properly punished for their crimes in his free time. The series returned in 2020 for 10 episodes with Dexter: New Blood, which ended with the death of the main character, played by Michael C Hall.

Filming for Dexter: Resurrection will commence in January 2025, and the series is set to pick up where New Blood left off. In a surprise twist, however, Hall has been re-confirmed in his role as Dexter Morgan, with one of the biggest questions on all fans’ minds is how the transition from death to life for the main character will play out.

Moreover, a prequel series, called Original Sin, in which the early life of Dexter is explored, will start filming in December 2024. It will star Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter, as well as Christian Slater as Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry.
