Malta’s autumnal season is as mild as they come; in fact, you could probably just call it an extended summer. This may make some of us feel like we can’t make the most of the amazing fashion trends that designers and magazines have given us for autumn 2024, but we did find three that can be aced without bulking on too many layers or heavy fabrics!

The Suit: According to Vogue editor Chloe Malle, US Vice President Kamala Harris has inspired one of the season’s biggest trends for women: the tailored suit. How you style it is pretty much up to you: you can go the full hog with a shirt and tie, or you can even just wear the blazer without anything underneath. To make this trend Malta weather-proof, just opt for lighter materials!

Dark Brown: The advent of the second instalment in the Beetlejuice film franchise has got many people reverting back to all-black outfits, but what if we told you that one of autumn 2024’s biggest colours is a fantastic middle-ground between black and colour? Dark brown is among the season’s favourite colours, offering visual depth and a rich aesthetic. Of course, many of the designs that featured this colour included coats, gloves, or heavy boots, but you can incorporate this colour into your outfit via other accessories, like handbags or belts.

Mesh: It’s a trend that comes and goes, but for a warmer autumn, mesh may offer just the perfect way of acing a trend. Sheer clothes, including dresses and skirts, have taken over the autumn 2024 runways, including those by huge fashion maisons like Saint Laurent. The trick here is to combine the mesh item with something heavier and more solid, like a light trench coat.
Are there any other trends you think would work for Malta’s demure autumn? If so, let us know in the comments section!
