In the words of the Queen of Christmas herself: It’s time! This means that many will now be planning how to deck their halls for Christmas 2024, and the trends this year go beyond the traditional red and green! Here are three we absolutely love.
Bows & Ribbons: Bows have had a massive resurgence over the past few months, particularly as designers and hairstylists made them a focal point. Of course, bows and ribbons have been a staple Christmas decoration since Victorian times, also, but this year these motifs are pastel pink, cream, and white. The trend is being spearheaded by American retailers Anthropologie, which have placed pink bows atop Christmas trees and jellies, and even draped them over fireplace mantels.
Regencycore: Bridgerton isn’t just a Netflix show, it’s a lifestyle that also extends to Christmas decorations. Indeed, plenty of Christmas decor stores across the world, including one of the US’s favourite ornament companies, Balsam Hill, have placed a lot of focus on Regency-inspired decor. These include ornaments in rich chocolate browns, burgundy, and deep blues, as well as plenty of tassels, jewels, glass, and lace.
Disco: An ode to the 1970s, which is now half a century ago, the retro disco Christmas trend is all about the bling and the sparkle, and is believed to be the natural progression following Brat Summer. For this, you’ll need plenty of disco balls, which you can place strategically across the room, and gold-coloured candles and candlesticks. You can also go a step further by investing in chrome-coloured decor or tableware, taking the disco experience to the next level.
