Teatru Manoel presents Moveo Dance Company’s This December, escape to a magical Christmas with a trip to Teatru Manoel in Valletta for an exciting and innovative production of ‘The Nutcracker’ by Moveo Dance Company. Taking place from December 9 (today) to 12 at 7 pm, this production is the perfect Christmas outing for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Fusing the classical sounds Pyotr Illich Tchaikovsky’s iconic 1892 score with Moveo Dance Company’s contemporary approach to choreography, this production of ‘The Nutcracker’ takes a well-loved ballet and turns it into a magical and innovative dance performance for all the family. In this story, we will meet Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the snowflakes, the dolls, the Arabian and Russian dancers, and of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy.
“The Nutcracker has always been a big passion of mine,” says Dorian Mallia (Moveo Dance Company’s Artistic Director). “I’ve loved it since childhood, and it transports us to a magical world of play and happiness! At Moveo, we’ve been pioneering ways to bring classics into the contemporary world, which aligns perfectly with our vision. ‘The Nutcracker’ is a major Christmas show in national theatres around the world, and it’s an incredible honour for us to present our own version at Teatru Manoel.”
