Fans of The Beatles will have undoubtedly stumbled upon one of the many titbits of information being released about Sam Mendes’s ambitious new project, which will see him direct four feature-length films based on the individual lives of the band’s members.
While the rumour mill has been in overdrive over this project, there are a few things that have been confirmed. For a start, we know filming for all four movies will begin in the summer of 2025, with the movies then being released periodically over the course of 2027. We also know some of the actors who will be playing the Fab Four.
Gladiator II’s Joseph Quinn has recently been confirmed as George Harrison, while Paul Mescal, who starred in the Normal People series, will play Paul McCartney. Ringo Starr himself has also let slip that Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan will be playing him, and Harris Dickinson, who recently starred opposite Nicole Kidman in Babygirl, is the favourite to play John Lennon.
Sam Mendes, who is best-known for directing movies like American Beauty and James Bond titles like Skyfall and Spectre, has also shared a few details about the project.
Each member of the record-breaking band will receive their own biopic, taking viewers on a journey through the lives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. While each biopic will be released as its own stand-alone feature film, it’s also highly likely that they will converge once the band members join forces to create The Beatles.
Needless to say, more information will make it to the public domain in the following months and years, so do follow this space for more updates!
