Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Mdina is hosting the first ‘International House Museum Days’ dedicated to ‘House Museums of Memory and Personages’ this weekend.

The museum will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am till 4pm (last entry) with guided tours running at 10am and 11am on both days with a special focus on the last owner and resident of the house, Olof Gollcher.

Items from Gollcher’s collection, together with photographs and documents from his personal archives, will illustrate his life, varied interests and contributions to Malta and the local community.

A special version of the tour will also be offered to children (6+) on both days at 2pm followed by a drawing activity where they will be invited to draw their favourite artefact or room. Parents and guardians are welcome to join this tour.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be encouraged to make a ‘Postcard from Palazzo Falson’. Using a variety of recycled materials, they may decorate a blank postcard to create a memory of their visit and share it on social media using the hashtag #palazzofalson. They may also keep the postcard as a token.

Pre-booking is essential. Kindly secure your booking and payment by sending us an e-mail on bookings@palazzofalson.com.

For more details, visit www.palazzofalson.com or the museum’s social Facebook and Instagram platforms. Children under the age of six are not permitted into the museum.

This collaborative initiative, led by the Italian National Association of Houses of Memory (Italy) with ICOM-DEMHIST and ICOM-ICLCM (International Committee of Literary and Composers’ Museums), is dedicated to celebrating historic houses, houses of memory and the figures they commemorate.

The event will provide the framework for a global focus on historic house museums.
