After a string of unforgettable editions featuring global icons like Ronan Keating, Julian Marley, Marco Masini, Brit Floyd and The Wailers, among many others, the Għaxaq Musical Festival returns next month with two electrifying nights of music and community celebration.
Day 1 – July 17: Italian global artist Zucchero – Overdose D’Amore World Tour
The opening night of Għaxaq Musical Festival 2025 kicks off in spectacular fashion with Italian blues-rock icon Zucchero, headlining as part of his internationally acclaimed Overdose D’Amore World Tour. One is to see him perform some of his timeless hits like Senza una donna, Baila (Sexy Thing), and Diamante, bringing some soulful magic to Għaxaq Grounds.
Setting the stage before Zucchero is Chess Galea, Malta’s touring singer-songwriter, who returns home after performing with The Australian Pink Floyd Show. Galea will be joined on stage by Peter Borg, one of Malta’s most celebrated guitarists and musical producers, ensuring a standout live collaboration filled with energy, elegance and talent.
Warming up the crowd is the ever-energetic Pierre Cordina, while festival-favourite DJ Mykill is set to keep the square alive into the early hours.

Day 2 – July 18: Grammy-winning Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo – Back to The Origins Tour
Day 2 of the festival keeps the momentum going with the legendary Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo, who are bringing their Back to The Origins Tour to Malta. With their unmistakable fusion of flamenco, salsa and pop, and global hits like Bamboléo, Volare and Djobi Djoba, this performance by the Grammy-winning artists is set to turn the square ablaze.
Before the Gipsy Kings take the stage, local artist Kurt Calleja will lead a special showcase titled Kurt Calleja & Friends, featuring some of the finest voices in the local scene: Eurovision star Chiara, rapper and songwriter Owen Leuellen, pop singer Brooke and rising soulful vocalist Kirsten Graham.
Warming up the evening is Maltese deejay Alex Grech, while DJ Sue will wrap up the event with a final party.

Tickets and visitor information
Tickets for these concerts are selling fast and can be purchased online at www.showshappening.com. Children under 12 can attend for free when accompanied by an adult, except for seated area, where a ticket must be purchased for the seat.. Certain ticket categories are already sold out.
In the spirit of community and inclusion, a portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to the Embrace Diversity Organisation, supporting children and youths with disabilities. Almost €200,000 have been donated to charities and organisations by the Ghaxaq Music Festival along the years.
