Fun events for you and your kids this weekend: April 14 to 16, 2023

Kids Dig Science: A Huff and a Puff

Children will learn about the force of natural disasters and how structures are being built to withstand extreme weather forces in this month’s edition of Kids Dig Science, taking place tomorrow, April 15, at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta at 3pm.

Aimed at children aged 8 to 10, this edition is inspired by the story of The Three Little Pigs where the big bad wolf menacingly tells each of the title characters “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.” It will include a puppet show and some hands-on scientific activities for children.

This project is brought by the Malta Chamber of Scientists and is supported by the Arts Council Malta’s Programme Support Fund. For tickets, click here.

Board Game Day

The Point shopping mall in Sliema is hosting a day for gamers aged 12+, who want to spend a fun-filled day playing their favourite board games.

Two different time slots available for booking: from 10am till 2pm or from 3pm till 7pm and over 20 board games will be available, including popular titles such as Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, Catan, and many more.

The event is taking place at Level -2 (in front of Costa). Pre-booking is needed here.

Spring Workshop for Children

Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Mdina is holding a Spring Workshop on Sunday, April 16, where children aged six to 12 are invited on a themed tour of the palazzo followed by a visit to the museum’s pollinator haven.

The children will learn about the life cycle of a honey bee, they will get to taste the three different types of Maltese honey and will also be setting up their own mini garden to take home.

Festa Frawli

Mġarr is hosting the 14th edition of its popular strawberry festival on Sunday, April 16, from 10am to 6pm.

Besides the chance to taste and buy fresh strawberries and goodies, there will be many activities for all the family, including a play area for children.

Tough Mudder Kids

The next edition of Tough Mudder Kids, the scaled-down version of the popular Tough Mudder obstacle course, is taking place on Sunday, April 16.

Designed specifically for young mud enthusiasts, the course features a variety of obstacles and challenges that will test your child’s strength, endurance, and teamwork skills in a safe and fun environment. There is an obstacle course for five- to seven-year-olds and another one for eight- to 12-year-olds.

The aim is not only to stay fit and make new friends, but also learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience.

Journey into Space

Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Kalkara is hosting a new spatial experience until Sunday, April 16, featuring anything from astronauts to galaxies, rocket ships, satellites and lunar rovers.

There will be various science shows and workshops for children of all ages and the opportunity to meet up with local researchers and professionals working in space research to learn more about their work and the possibilities there is in this field.

Fun fair at San Raflu

The 37th edition of the popular Fiera Festa tal-Għadira (Għadira Fun Fair) is being held at the Għadira ta’ San Raflu area, Kerċem, on Sunday, April 16, from noon onwards.

The activity is aimed at all the family, and will feature games with the chance of winning prizes, a free kids area, pony rides, selling of plants and herbs, food and drink stalls and a clay pigeon shooting competition.

Strawberry picking experience, including pony ride

St Andrew’s Farm in Swieqi is inviting children and their families for a fun-filled hour of strawberry picking, pony rides, face painting, and a craft station this weekend.

Children (minimum age 2) can pluck juicy berries while adults enjoy the creative activities. One can make a plant pot to grow fresh basil at home and take home a box of freshly-picked strawberries.

Easter Egg Hunt at the MIA

The Malta International Airport is hosting a fun-filled afternoon of searching for colourful Easter eggs hidden around the airport terminal on Sunday, April 16.

The egg hunt will start off at the Food Court on Level -1 and is perfect for children aged three to eight years. A ticket per child must be purchased to participate.

All attendees will be given a €5 voucher, which may be redeemed at any airport outlet. Parents do not need to purchase a ticket.

The event forms part of an Easter Kids Club, which is hosting children’s favourite characters, including Minnie and Mickey, Olaf and Donald Duck.

Easter at the Aquarium

The Malta National Aquarium in Qawra is hosting a number of Easter-themed activities until Sunday, April 16.

Children can get creative at a crafts station, meet and greet with the famous Mickey and Minnie while playing games. There are magic shows, storytellers and an Easter egg hunt.

Easter holidays at the Eden Cinema

The Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s is screening family movies from 10am onwards until Sunday, April 16.

Families can enjoy the latest blockbusters such as MummiesThe Super Mario Bros Movie and Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

Easter celebrations at Popeye’s Fun Farm

A brand new fun farm has opened at Popeye Village, where Popeye and his gang are celebrating Easter until Sunday, April 16.

Attractions include:

• A number of Easter animation shows, including a puppet show and a Popeye and Friends show;
• Dancing during the Bunny Hop Kids Dance;
• Easter Parade-Dance, where children can meet the huggable bunny Ricky and his friends;
