5 outdoor yoga spots to recharge your batteries

Carve your own peaceful niche in Malta’s beaches or hidden green spaces.

I know, the first thing you thought of after reading that article title is “What? There’s construction everywhere!” That’s true for the most part, but there are still some secret spots here and there where you can get some downtime. Meditate, do yoga, or simply be in the moment without your phone – what you do there is up to you.

1. Buskett Gardens

Buskett Gardens is one of Malta’s less-appreciated spots, so it’s easy to find a quiet spot there. All you need is a yoga mat, a bottle of water, and a healthy snack in case you’d like to spend some time connecting with nature before heading back.

2. Il-Miżieb

Trekking, hiking, camping, meditation, yoga, peace and quiet – Miżieb has pretty much got it all. You’ll find this magnificent woodland between Għajn Tuffieha and Mellieħa. Sit between the pine trees and close your eyes to become one with your surroundings.

3. Chinese Gardens of Serenity

The Chinese Gardens of Serenity in Santa Luċija offers four small gardens that take you on an Asian journey. Sit by the pond and watch the turtles swim past you or sit down on a bench and go through your daily mantras.

4. Golden Bay

Sunrise at Golden Bay is definitely the perfect time and place to do yoga, especially now that’s it getting warmer as you’ll beat the crowds. Start your day off the right way with some poses and breathwork by the sea.

5. Selmun

From trees to countryside walks to beach days, Selmun has got pretty much everything, meaning you can go there several times and not see the same thing twice. Switch off and disconnect from the world as you sit on your mat and do your thing.
