Yes, we know it’s still 30°C+ outside, but going through the trends for the upcoming season has got us so excited for spooky season… Here are three that we particularly love!

The Black Coat has been a staple in most people’s wardrobes for years. In fact, many may think of it as utilitarian rather than fashion but, in autumn 2023, the black coat is the statement. This can be oversized, like the ones we saw on the Balenciaga runway; tailored like the ones worn down the Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney catwalks; boxy like the example Prada shared with the world; or playful, like the textured, oversized one from Givenchy whose hem almost resembles the shape of a tulip.

Florals may not be groundbreaking in spring but they certainly turn heads in autumn. This year, every fashion house from Burberry to Chanel and Erdem to Jil Sander have presented looks that pay ode to a winter garden. How this was done varied, with some going for full-on prints (Christian Dior, Balenciaga), others using florals as a detail (Carolina Herrera, Christopher Kane), and others going to town with literal fashion art creations (Noir Kei Ninomiya).
Vivienne Westwood’s passing in December 2022 was a huge loss for fashion and the world. It’s no surprise, therefore, that her legacy inspired many designers to inject her essence into their work for autumn 2023, which was presented in February. This includes tartans (Issey Miyake, Stella McCartney, Vaquera), corsets (Di Petsa), and even bustles, which was a type of padded undergarment used in the 19th century. (Asai),
