Rose water is basically made by collecting steam passed through rose petals. Its use dates back to before the Middle Ages, and is still a very popular beauty ingredient in the Middle East, as well as in many cosmetics we buy over the counter.
Its properties are lauded for helping soothe sore throats, treat infections, and heal cuts (always consult a doctor first). Here, however, we’ll be looking at three ways it can be used on the skin.
1. Reduces Redness & Skin Irritation: Rose water is naturally antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and rich in antioxidants, which means it can visibly reduce redness, soothe irritated skin, and even help with sensitive skin.
2. Great For Cleansing: Removing impurities from the skin is one of rose water’s greatest claims to fame, and for good reason: great for all skin types, you can use this to help remove make up and keep spots at bay.
3. Anti-Aging Worker: Because it hydrates and moisturises the skin, rose water is often added to anti-aging cosmetics. While these have other ingredients that help fight the signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, rose water does a pretty decent job at keeping your skin plump on its own!
