3 ways to keep your skin radiant through the festive season

Glow up even when you drink up.

Before you dive headfirst into a sea of glitter and mince pies, let’s talk about keeping your skin in check. Because while Santa’s rosy cheeks might be cute, yours could do with a little less red and a lot more glow. Here’s how to get through the season looking fabulous.

1. Stay hydrated inside and out

Want to keep your skin looking more radiant than the fairy lights? Stay hydrated. All those mulled wines and festive cocktails might be fun, but they’re not exactly doing your skin any favours. Make an effort to sip on at least 2 litres of water daily—and no, a splash of tonic in your gin doesn’t count. Keeping hydrated will give your skin that much-needed boost to stay fresh and glowy.

Now, let’s talk moisturisers. Winter weather and cranked-up heating can leave your skin crying for help. Slather on a hydrating moisturiser with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, and let your skin drink it up. Think of it as giving your face a cosy festive jumper—it’ll thank you later.

2. Prioritise sleep and skincare

We get it—you’ve got parties to attend and endless mince pies to devour. But don’t let your skincare routine take a back seat. No matter how late it gets, cleanse your face properly before bed to remove the day’s makeup and grime. Follow it up with a nourishing night cream and let your skin do its thing while you’re catching some Zs. Skipping this step is like leaving your Christmas lights on all night—it’s not doing anyone any good.

Speaking of sleep, try to squeeze in a solid 7–8 hours whenever possible. Yes, we know the allure of holiday movie marathons is strong, but skimping on sleep can lead to a face that screams “I’ve been partying too hard.” Dark circles and dullness? No, thank you.

3. Nourish your skin with festive-friendly foods

Not all festive treats are your skin’s worst enemy. In fact, some are secretly on your side. Snack on goodies like nuts, dark chocolate, and cranberries—they’re packed with antioxidants that fight off those pesky free radicals. Consider it indulging with benefits.

And don’t forget about healthy fats. Whether it’s a buttery slice of avocado toast or a festive salmon dish, omega-3 fatty acids can keep your skin feeling soft and looking dewy. Basically, if it’s delicious and makes your skin happy, it’s a win-win. Who says you can’t eat your way to radiance?
