Threads of Love showcases emerging Gozitan designers

The Gozo Expo and Conference Centre at Teatru Aurora played host to Threads of Love, a fashion event aimed at providing a platform for young Gozitan designers. Organised by Il-Ħjata Bespoke as part of the Inħobbok – Valentine’s in Gozo’ initiative, the event highlighted emerging talent in the local fashion industry.

A full house attended the showcase, which featured a combination of fashion and performance. A group of teenage dancers, choreographed by Deborah Agius, opened the evening, setting the tone for a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. The event’s primary focus was to give young designers an opportunity to present their work on a professional runway.

Il-Ħjata Bespoke founder Vickyann Xuereb, who spearheaded the event, expressed her satisfaction at the turnout and the enthusiasm displayed by the participating designers. Reflecting on her own challenges in pursuing a career in fashion in the 1980s, she emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for the next generation of designers.

The show featured collections by five emerging designers—Sakana, Andre, Mattia, Ivana, and SaraCristina—who presented a range of innovative and meticulously crafted garments. In addition to the clothing designs, the event introduced Daniel Formosa, a jewellery designer making his debut on the fashion scene. His pieces, presented alongside Il-Ħjata Bespoke’s 2025 Collection, incorporated elements of local cultural heritage.

Il-Ħjata Bespoke’s latest collection was well received, showcasing a blend of contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship. The garments, ranging from ready-to-wear pieces to bespoke creations, were praised for their attention to detail and artistic expression.

Attendees commended the creativity and craftsmanship evident in the designs, noting the relevance of the pieces in today’s fashion landscape. The show reinforced Il-Ħjata Bespoke’s commitment to promoting sustainable fashion and providing a platform for new talent.

Xuereb extended her gratitude to all those involved in the event, including the designers, production team, and audience. She emphasised the importance of supporting local fashion and fostering a culture of creativity and innovation within the industry.

Threads of Love concluded with a strong message of encouragement for emerging designers, reinforcing the event’s mission to celebrate artistic talent and craftsmanship within the Gozitan fashion scene.
