Love Kitchen receives €33,400 to support its mission

A crucial support system for individuals experiencing homelessness.

InterContinental Malta, in collaboration with its parent company, Eden Leisure Group, has raised an impressive €33,400 in aid of the Love Kitchen, a charitable initiative under the Millennium Chapel in Paceville.

Throughout 2024, InterContinental Malta has been actively engaging in fundraising efforts through its restaurant initiatives, culminating in a donation of €23,400. This amount builds upon an earlier contribution of €10,000 made by the Eden Leisure Group in July, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to social responsibility.

The Love Kitchen serves as a crucial support system for individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, offering them warm meals and companionship. Speaking about the donation, Father Hilary, Director of the Love Kitchen, expressed his gratitude, citing the words of Mother Teresa: “If you cannot feed one hundred people, feed just one.” He acknowledged the vital role played by Eden Leisure Group and InterContinental Malta in sustaining the initiative.

Present at the cheque presentation were Elisaveta Debono, HR Manager of InterContinental Malta & Holiday Inn Express, Kate de Cesare, Chief Sustainability Officer of Eden Leisure Group and Chairperson of the Eden Leisure Foundation, Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro, and Franck Lopez, General Manager of InterContinental Malta & Holiday Inn Express.

Kate de Cesare emphasised the significance of the project, stating, “The Love Kitchen, under Fr. Hilary’s inspiring leadership, offers not only nourishment but also dignity and hope to individuals facing hardship. We are honoured to contribute to this worthy cause and stand with their mission to make a meaningful difference in our community.”

The Eden Leisure Group, through the Eden Leisure Foundation, remains steadfast in its commitment to community outreach. Headquartered in St. Julian’s, the group frequently supports various charitable organisations across Malta, providing both financial and in-kind assistance. By partnering with the Love Kitchen, the group continues to make a tangible impact in improving the lives of vulnerable individuals within the local community.
