Tangent Club Malta, in collaboration with Xjenza Malta and Villa Bighi, is hosting the Christmas Bakes Marathon, a heart-warming charity event at Villa Bighi in Kalkara, on December 13 and 14.
The aim is to raise funds for children moving out of the foster care system under Fondazzjoni Sebħ, supporting them as they take their first steps towards independent living.
Throughout the marathon, the festive spirit will come alive with the aroma of freshly baked Christmas treats, such as mince pies, traditional Maltese honey rings (qagħaq tal-għasel), Christmas logs and gingerbread cookies. Some cookies will be beautifully decorated, while others will be left plain, inviting parents and children to enjoy decorating them together.
To complete the experience, guests can enjoy mulled wine and the beloved Maltese imbuljuta, the traditional chestnut and chocolate soup, adding warmth and flavour to this festive weekend.
The event will start on December 13 at noon and continue until December 14 at 6pm.
Fondazzjoni Sebħ and its aftercare services
The aftercare services are a pivotal pillar of the services within Fondazzjoni Sebħ as they aim to solidify and build on all of the hard work, progress and healing that would have taken place for children during their time in residential care within our homes.
Youth who turn 18 and leave residential care have very few or no options available to them, with, some risking becoming homeless and bouncing from one shelter to another.
Fondazzjoni Sebħ believe that youth who have already experienced so much trauma and vulnerability, deserve the very best start to adult life, with the same opportunities and hope as other young people their age.
The aftercare services aim to provide ongoing support and optimising the opportunities for healing available to the youth by creating foundations for a secure, long-term plan.
Part of this is being accomplished by the creation of semi-independent Transitional Residences which will provide housing options and ongoing support for those youth who would like to pursue education and employment goals. Every person in aftercare transitional residences is followed by a professional mentor who continues to walk the journey with them and support them to build future plans.
About Tangent Club Malta
Tangent Club Malta is a women’s organisation that promotes friendship, service and community engagement. It is the natural continuation of the Ladies’ Circle Club, offering members the opportunity to carry forward the strong bonds of friendship formed there while expanding their involvement in charitable and social initiatives.
While Tangent Club Malta was founded by mostly ex-Ladies Circle members, it is now open to other women who share the same values of the club. In fact, friends of members and like-minded women who share the club’s values are warmly invited to become part of this inspiring network.
Through the organisation of social and fundraising events, the club actively supports a wide range of charitable causes. In recent years, the Club has hosted afternoon teas in aid of children with rare diseases and a masquerade ball, which successfully raised €5,500 for Fondazzjoni Sebħ. These initiatives reflect the cub’s enduring commitment to making a difference through compassion, collaboration and community spirit.
Tangent Club Malta is also a proud member of Tangent Club International (TCI), a global organisation that connects Tangent Clubs from all over the world. Through TCI, members have the opportunity to participate in international meetings, exchange ideas and learn from the inspiring work of other Tangent Clubs, strengthening global friendships that reflect the true essence of the Tangent movement.
