The Sip and Listen concert series by the Barocco Foundation returns for its second evening at the recently restored St Augustine Priory Apse, Valletta, on April 23 at 7.30pm.
Blending music with a relaxed social experience, guests are invited to unwind while sipping prosecco and enjoy a nostalgic journey through some of the most beloved wartime melodies.
The programme pays tribute to songs that once uplifted soldiers and brought comfort to those waiting at home during times of war. Audiences will be treated to timeless classics such as We’ll Gather Lilacs, The White Cliffs of Dover, I’ll Close My Eyes, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, As Time Goes By, La Vie en Rose, Parlami d’Amore Mariù and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, among others.
Soprano Marita Bezzina, baritone Ken Scicluna and pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa will perform.
Following the performance, attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary guided tour of the vast priory which includes the 16th-century church and the priory remains and a World War II shelter.
St Augustine Priory Apse is located in Old Bakery Street, Valletta. Entrance to the concert is at a suggested donation of €25, which includes a glass of prosecco.
