The Manoel Theatre, together with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy in Malta, are presenting an evening of contemporary jazz featuring up-and-coming Italian pianist and composer Francesco Cavestri on June 28 at 8pm.
At just 23 years old, Cavestri has established himself as one of the most prominent figures in the European jazz scene. He was recently named by Forbes among the ‘100 Under 30’ talent leaders, making him the first-ever jazz musician to receive this honour. A designated Steinway artist, his musical language seamlessly blends traditional jazz with electronic music, hip-hop and contemporary pop music.
For the Manoel performance, Cavestri will present a dynamic repertoire alternating between intimate solo piano moments in the first set and energy-driven trio sounds in the second.
The concert will showcase original tracks from his latest album Noè (2026, Universal Music Italia), which features contemporary jazz, hip-hop, electronic music and cinematic influences. Recorded at Universal Music Italia’s studios with Steinway & Sons as technical partner, Noè has been met with widespread critical acclaim since its release last month. It has been awarded by digital music store Qobuz as the best album of the week worldwide and, also on Qobuz, became the most-streamed album in all of Italy.
The evening will also pay tribute to the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis, whose birth anniversary is being celebrated this year. Cavestri will reinterpret Davis’s groundbreaking legacy, offering the Maltese audience a bridge between the golden era of American jazz and the cutting-edge sounds of today.
