Eco-friendly festival planned for Barrakka Gardens

The event will include live performances and sustainable products and services.

A celebration of sustainable living is set to take place at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta. Eco Festival 2023 aims to promote sustainable living, providing a platform for individuals, businesses, and organisations to share their ideas and initiatives with the public.

The event will include a range of attractions and activities that include workshops and talks, focusing on blue tech, zero waste, green transportation, regenerative farming, nutrition and more eco-friendly products.

Exhibits will showcase eco-friendly products, services and initiatives by exhibitors from Malta and Italy, with eco-sustainable home décor, art, alternative fashion and unique creations made from recycled materials. Food and drink will be in keeping with the theme, with healthy drinks, locally-crafted draught beer and biodynamic wines.

The highlight of the festival features a line-up of live performances by musicians who share the festival’s vision of sustainability, including original works inspired by environmental themes and featuring performances by local artists like Whisky Music Project and Meadow Strings.

Children are welcome, with a special Kids’ Zone where young ones can explore the entertaining and educational activities including a creative session about endangered wildlife in Malta, an interactive workshop to combat plastic pollution in the ocean, and painting sessions using non-toxic 100% safe colours.

Eco Festival 2023 is expected to hold particular appeal for those who are ready to embrace a more eco-conscious lifestyle, as well as for those who are already committed to making a positive impact. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover a diverse range of innovative brands offering environmentally-friendly products & services, as festival attendees will witness first-hand the power of small actions in contributing to Malta’s transition towards a circular economy and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Erasmus+ project will feature a showcase of 40 eco-sustainable brands; 20 from Malta and 20 from Italy. Plans are underway to hold the second part of the project take place in Italy between September 22-24, where some 20 Maltese brands will be joining forces with 20 Sicilian brands.
